Default Tube bender - Hilmor Type K

$250. Made in England, vintage unknown. Old but fully functional. With imperial dies and followers for 1/2, 3/4, 7/8 and 1" tube. fitted to stand with sector plate for repetitive work.

This is stronger than a plumbing bender, and will bend light weight steel tube. It was once used for making bicycle frames. I haven't personally used it for 1" tube but I did use it for 7/8 with no problem. It was a long time ago but I recall it requiring a fair heave. For inch you might need a longer lever. I can't demonstrate as it needs to be bolted down and I'm unwilling to drill my floor.

Located Lower lakes SA. Can be picked up or delivered to Fleurieu, Hills or metro Adelaide by arrangement. Not really interested in freight.

Just in case anyone is worried about the imperialness, metric sizes would work. In every case the equivalent metric size is smaller than the imperial. This just means the tube will flatten a tiny bit more as it expands vertically to meet the die. However I should say I haven't tried this.

    1/2" = 12.7
    3/4" = 19.05
    7/8" = 22.22
    1" = 25.4

Would it make a difference if I was willing to strap it to a pallet and drop it at a freight depot?

Hiya Bryan, I,m interested if you could put it on a small pallet. I don't need the stand as its probably not worth freighting. I'm in sunny darwin and would need some dimensions packed on a pallet and rough weight to get a freight quote. More than willing to add an extra $50 if you could get it to Adelaide at your leisure

    Cheers...Don

Hi Don. Sorry I didn't see your msg sooner - my notification doesn't seem to be working. On the weekend I will unbolt the stand and try to figure out the weight of the remaining bits, and think about how best to secure them. I have a spare 1200 x 1200 pallet but some kind of crate may work better. There's a freight depot in the next town; I'll make an enquiry.

Don, total weight of the bender bits is about 32kg. Plus crating so call it 35?
    If I made a long crate so it's forkliftable, it would be around 1m x 250 x 250.

Thanks for all the effort you've gone to Bryan.

I'll get a quote from Northline Adelaide to Darwin and if you let me know
how much you want for all your effort, and freight to Northline's depot
in Adelaide, I'll transfer, or send a money order to you.

    My email address is xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Cheers...Don
