Default Hercus 260G spindle wrench modification

Made a small modification to my lathe. I know a circular engagement with the spindle isn't ideal, but it was the easiest to make at this point in time.
Gets the job done, sits nice and snug in the back of the spindle. Now the chuck can be removed without having to go into low gear and risking damage to the gears, etc.
It is now similar to the spindle on the Emco V10 P.
And yes that small 8mm bolt is enough to do the job, I could probably use the wrench as a hammer if need be.

What holds your plug in place on the grooves you have cut?

Some length of the socket goes into the spindle to help keep it in place (a little too loose on my one). A pin is inserted through a hole drilled in the socket which fits into the 2 small grooves cut on the spindle. It holds pretty well for a round groove (will need to make a tighter socket in the future).

When the chuck needs to be removed, the wrench can be set against a block of wood and a spanner placed on one of the chuck jaws and it comes right off.

So are you still using your chuck removal wedges or is this something different or also required?
