Default Cross slide dome nut thread size

Anyone know what the handle end of the cross slide screw thread is, one that the dome nut goes on? Circled in the image. I think I've damaged mine and hope I can get a standard die to clean it up.

If it is 7/32W you could run a 3/16W die over it ( same 14 TPI). I expect 3/16 dome nuts would be more readily available than 7/32.

That has been tried and stuffs up the thread completely
Try taking the first one or two threads off the end of the spindle
Alternative is lop the thread off drill and tap the end of the spindle 3/16 insert a bit of threaded rod. Use a standard 3/16 nut

Find someone nearby with a lathe that can chase the thread for you?

You could use a thread file.

Pass on the chasing with a lathe, the thread is quite small and the chance of it all running true are?

+1 for thread file. Only spin the work slowly though.

Thanks for your suggestions, I managed to chase it in the lathe and carefully feeding by hand. It's not perfect but the nut goes on.
