Default Single phase motor for Hercus

A friend of mine just purchased an ATM 260, it did not come with a motor but did come with a pulley, he wants the easiest slip in/bolt on single phase motor, the pulley hole looks to be 14mm.

    Thanks.

Pulleys are dirt cheap so I would not be looking around too hard to try and match the motor to the existing pulley.

That's probably going to be a 1/3 or 1/2 hp 4 pole* from memory. Most motor rewinders sell FHP (Fractional Horse Power) motors as it is cheaper than rewinding them. The alternative is to contact Royce Cross Motors in Dudley Park. Their main business is selling motors. If you go to their web site Totally Enclosed 1425rpm Crompton Greaves General Purpose 240V Cap Start Motor - 020_Electric motors 240 Volt, 4 Pole - 1400rpm General - Product Detail - Royce Cross Agencies, on some pages like this one there is an additional information PDF which is a motor catalogue.
Look for a TEFC motor (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) so you don't suck dust in.

    * 4 pole is around 1440rpm. I don't know whether that is the right speed so that you get the proper speeds as per the name plate

I think i'd be wanting to go the bigger motor though, pulleys are cheap. That place sells pulleys too, check out there other items. What size motor did these lathes originally come with?
