    Default Coolant Splash Guard

I've been meaning to do something like this since I got my Hercus and finally I got around to it.
It's not completely finished and will probably mod it as I use it as you will see.

Materials are mainly SS because I had it around and it saves painting, and the guard itself is PC.

Bracket made out of 3 mm plate and 12.5 mm OD tube TIG'ed together.
Then the plate was drilled and tapped and threaded onto the top pulley support arm

This is an adjustable rotation position stop.
I've used a bit of all thread as a temporary shaft but will eventually replace it with a solid shaft once I know how long I want it.

The guard is made of a strip of 20 x 3mm SS strap bent into a semicircle onto which a piece of PC about 120 mm wide and 600 mm long is bolted.
A short section of SS time is TIGed into the strap and attached to the shaft like this,
The red arrow points to some folded lead sheet that acts as a counter weight - you'll see what that does further down.
If required the guard can be positioned along the shaft by about 25 mm, or quickly removed by removing that acorn nut.

The PC hanging down below the bed of the lathe on the LHS is going to be trimmed.

When its pushed back the lead weight goes over centre to hold the guard back

Below you can see the apron is making contact with the PC below the level of the bed which is why the PC needs trimming
    Otherwise, so far so good.
