Hi Again Yonnee
Sorry mate, I can't get you a pic of it as I have just finished cutting the old drawbar off the framework.
The reason it cracked is because the crossbar was welded across the top of the drawbar, the cardinal sin.
I bought some 50 x 100 x 4mm RHS for the new drawbar and I am now looking for a couple safety chain holders to weld to the drawbar to attach the safety chains.
So, hopefully two last questions on the gussets. What size do you make your gussets and what thickness material? I as thinking of using 75 x 3mm flatbar cut diagonally.
Thanks again for all your help.

Yep, looks good.
I use whatever I have lying around... :laughing1:
But yeah, 3mm flat bar on both side would be fine.

Thanks Yonnee
I feel much more confident now.
Really appreciate your help.

Hi Yonnee
Another last question .... Do you attach the drawbar to each crossmember?
At this stage it would only be at the front crossmember and then the side rail at the spring hanger. It seems that this isn't enough.
Thanks in advance

Hey Ash.
You'd be surprised as to how strong just 1 inch of weld is.
I do weld along the drawbar where it crosses any of the cross rails.

Thanks heaps mate.
Time for me to stop chatting and get welding.
