    Default Dual wheels for trailer

I want to make a mulch spreader with dual wheels so I can alter the width for narrow rows and at times make it more stable and spread weight for soft ground.
I need to be able to remove outer wheels. The wheels need to be closer together so I can't use a diff. Does any one know of dual wheels that can bolt onto a hub? Preferably not large truck wheels.
I was thinking I maybe able to alter hubs to fit wheels as it is not for high speed.

Those little Japanese trucks from the 1980's with little dual wheels at the back (12" I think) and they had 16" wheels at the front.
Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

Instead of answering your question regarding hubs on the WWF, I'll answer it here. You'll need hubs off a Land Cruiser or similar, I'm not sure of the PCD (Pitch Circle Diam) of the studs on a dual rim set up, you'll need to check them to make sure.
As you haven't stated what sort of load it'll be carrying, or if it's to be going on/across roads, I'll work on that it won't be and the load will be about 1tonne.
You'll need an axle that will be able to take it, I'd say something around the 45mm square should do the trick, you could weld some 50 X 10 under the axle if it looks like bending, but the main load will be on the ends, so I'd go for Ford bearings if you're using a second hand axle. You'll need to make an adaptor plate something like 12mm thick should be sufficient. If you're getting the rims etc from a dismantler, get the studs and nuts also, makes life easier.
If your good at fabrication, and find a diff housing to suit, you could cut the diff centre out and then weld the tubes together.
If you're getting a new axle/hub assy, tell them what wheels you'll be using and they can make the hubs to suit.
    Hope this helps,
    Kryn

I noticed that my father-in-law's 2012 Ford Transit based motor home has dual 16" wheels on the back, and I'm pretty sure the same wheel is used on the front too as there's only one spare.
Might be an option if you're still chasing wheels...

That'd be Mazda E1600, E2000, Ford Econovan clone.
Fully floating hubs, very truck like.

Ford Spectron was the people carrier version of the Econovan, and they also are 12" rims at the rear.
Irrespective of make and model, the big trick is to find wheels that have offset that puts their mounting face outside the tyre width. This means when two of them are placed back-to-back, they have a gap between the tyres.
Too many projects, so little time, even less money!
