    That link suggests about $14/m2

I've also found this link: https://www.wake.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=36119

    A boat trailer, 2013, @$3.50/kilo =$980
So maybe $5 is about right.
    Better weigh your trailer...
It's just the bare chassis weight of course, not wheels, springs, or anything else you can unbolt.

Yep, understand that funds are tight, but a poor man pays twice they say.
Using your 100X50X4 channel as an example, that sounds awfully like Duragal Channel, which is not in fact Galvanised at all. It is merely a zinc enriched coating and nowhere near the thickness or durability of a proper hot dip galvanised finish. 100X50 channel is probably too small in section to build a good trailer with to be honest.
Regarding galvanising, the way our local galvaniser works out pricing is as follows. Weight of component (in your case trailer) X 1.07 X 1.73 + GST. So for a 300Kg trailer frame the cost would be 300 X 1.07 X 1.73 $555.33 + GST = $610.86
Remember to take into account the width of the bath when designing and building anything that will be galvanised. In the case of our plant, the bath width is 950mm.
$600 dollars may seem a lot, but it doesn't take all that long to rack up a hefty bill when buying industrial quality paint, prepping the surface etc.
Another option may be to use RHS and FULLY seal all joints, then drill a hole and fill all members with a decent bit of oil, then weld the hole closed, before painting the outside with good quality paint.

i am pretty handy with the spray gun and i have sprayed 2k before plus i have the equipment all tho as my other thread suggest the compressor is on its way out i am looking at getting a couple more and would love to do a job with them to see how they handle it

i tried building a trailer years ago with a MISHTO welder from ebay but not going into detail about the welder that has been said, at the time i priced filling the 75/100mm material with oil and it seemed expensive

however here is theU/C beam steel i was looking at making the trailer from https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/nare...gth/1038153246

That is 100 X 50 Taper Flange Channel, almost guaranteed to be imported steel and yes it is hot dip galvanised. Not my choice for a trailer compared to RHS due to these factors, lower grade steel (grade 250 at best while RHS is grade 350 at a minimum), greater weight (8.33 Kg/M compared to 6.6 Kg/M for 100 X 50 X 3 RHS), less torsional rigidity and lower bending resistance due to being an open section and prone to cracking where suspension mounts unless stiffeners are welded in, somewhat negating the benefit of using a galvanised product.
The hot dipped channel is going to be a pain to work with as all areas to be welded will need to be ground off prior. In addition, I would not have full confidence in the structural properties of imported Taper Flange Channel, some imported hot rolled products I've come across have been pretty suspect.
For my money, your only choice here is whether you hot dip your RHS frame or seal, oil and paint it. There is a reason why commercial boat trailers are generally hot dipped RHS.
