Up date here. Full chassis. Ok well there is some detail missing still and it is just the skeleton
And from the rear
A little detail on the proposed suspension
Hydrolic lift not to scale but to raise and lower the unit so it can sit right on the ground
Overall length is about 5400mm
Could be some time and some on the drawing board but good to get some feed back as I mentally perfecr it for my needs.
I do have some other ideas aroind the suspension and may get an alternative up soon.

How do you change the tyre when it goes flat?
Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

Seriuosly dave that whole suspension concept ain't going to fly.
Have you looked at the independent suspension systems currently on offer?
Any independent suspension system has to have some sort of wide base pivot like a wishbone ...... and I do not know of a single automotive spring system that works in tension.
What you are trying to do would be easier to achieve with a drop axle , trailing links, panhard rod and airbags.
If you want a raise and lower traler bed that drops all the way to the ground, there are some existing designs out there ...... they are complex, heavy and expensive to build.
as for changing that tyre ....... it ain't going to happen ...... you need a full open wheel arch.

The red one is a hydroluc ram to lift and lower.
The spring and strut is in compresion however you are right about airbags. Chris sent me a youtube link earlier which was educational.

I have to agree with Soundman, I can't see it working. Have you sought any advice as to registration requirements - I suspect that you will need engineering certification for registration and / or insurance.
We can talk about it in more detail when you are down.

Hi Dave,
Had this emailed to me as part of another posting. Something along the lines that you're looking at, copy and paste into Google, Drop Deck Depot
Drop Deck Depot is a unique trailer manufacturer in that we specialize exclusively in one platform – hydraulic drop deck trailers.

Take a look at how Drake Trailers make the suspension used on Low loaders .
These have what you require only much heavier , also a tried and tested design .
They can be lowered hydraulically each axle is independent , inside tyres are a pain in the butt to change when loaded .
