Cheap Mig Trolley
Had a bit of a win at Bunnings the other day.
I had been considering buying on of those cheap mig trolleys from China(pic) for around $80-90 del.
But then as I pulled up at the big green shed I noticed a couple of trolley type thingos near the skip.
So I looked them over and asked the bloke having smoko near the back door if I could take them. "Yep, take em - they're just s%*t we get delivered to move stock in an out".
I am in the process now of shortening one of these to fit my little WIA, and then add a gun holder and we're away.
Will be coated in nice bright Rustkill cherry red, as I got the paint cheap enough ($30/12cans at auction).
Frame on the workbench is current progress with casters removed and frame cut down to right size. Still need to weld then descale all the rust prior to paint.
Other pic shows the whole trolley as found... just need to think of another project for this one?
All in all a great result..
It pays to keep an eye out lads..

Yep, those ###### $8 plastic chairs get delivered on them. Castor's can be a bit dodgy though as it looks like they get knocked together quickly. Trust me Bunnings throw an awful amount of perfectly good stuff out. I have seen BBQ's and lawnmowers go in the skip because they were missing a few bolts or were slightly damaged, easier to write off than to have fixed or returned. The amount of timber that used to get thrown out would make some people here cry
I doubt anything has changed

I've rescued a few bits from the B-bin in the past. Most recently a galv steel bin chucked because it had a dent (that I popped out with a rubber mallet).
As for MIG rigs - I welded two brackets with an extra bar between them 2/3rds of the way up a surplus $20 fridge trolley. Presto - welder [a medium sized MIG] on top (kept there by a roof rack strap) with the gas cylinder below.
Roll it anywhere I need it with the unit at an easy height to adjust the wire speed.
Only trick is to make sure you have it stable when you change the cylinder out or it becomes top heavy.
Cheers!
