    Default Generator Welder info

    Hi Guy's,
I'm looking for some information on a Kubota FS-250 generator welder, I have searched on line and even the Kubota website and found very little information and are hoping someone in the forum may know something of them.
It has the Kubota ER 1400 NBW, water cooled that was made in Osaka Japan and has Japanese writing on the fuel cap, has a hand crank and decompression lever, an oil screen that you can wash and not a filter you replace, no hour meter.
I have enclosed a pic from a Malaysian site of what they looked liked back in the day and a pic of the one I got, the difference with mine is that the alternator has been replaced with an Italian made Mecc Alte 220DC.
It is also now cleaner then that pic and has it's wheels and battery back in place.
Any information on it would be great and thanks in advance.

I googled Mecc Alte 220DC and got this. Hope it helps.

There are a lot of generators around that are made up from various manufacturers. Basically what happens is. they get the best motor and the best generator, (depending on the price they want to sell at) combine the two and wire it up.
Kuboto motors are a very reliable unit.
Did you get it on a Grays Auction site for $89.00, asking as while I was looking for details for you I came across one that was sold.
If you did you got a bargain.
I can't find any information on that particular motor, so I would say that it is what they call a Grey Import. In other words it was imported into Australia illegally, so if you have a problem with it, Kuboto will tell you where to go, in a rather rude manner.

I have been to Mecc Alte in Dry Creek South Australia to get another knob for the unit, but I'm really wanting information on the Kubota side of things, sorry I did not express that well.
    Thanks for the effort.

    Sorry Kryn,
I responded only to the Mecc Alte link I did not see the rest of what you wrote for some reason.
Yes it appears maybe this was only for the Japanese or Asian market as I got the pic from a Malaysian site and did see the Grays on line one, so at least a few did arrive in Australia.
As for getting it from Gray's, NO I got it from a crane hire and rigging company that advertised on Gumtree.
I have seen replacements parts for the motor on line so that should not be a problem.
Just seems a bit of a mystery and hoping to get some original info on the welder.
Once again thanks for the effort.

Hi Trev, When I say Grays Imports, it could be that the place you got it from might have brought it in from overseas, as it's unusual for Kubota not to have spares listed for it.

    Hi Kryn,
It's looking like it may have been a grey import from the Asian market.
But spares can be found, so that is good and the only Australian distribution of Mecc Alte is based in Dry Creek.
So I should be right for all spares.
I at least know something of Kubota marketing now and will continue to look more into it.

I have checked my manual collection and Scribd, and cant find a manual (i'm normally really good at this). I don't think its a grey import, my guess is it's from the 90's, before Kubota stuff was really common. Is there anything in particular you need to know?

    Thanks Snapatap,
Was just hopeful to find some more info about it.
You are correct it's an old line and just hard to find information on it, I spoke with a few Kubota dealerships today as my engine numbers did not match what they have on line and even the ER1400 does not appear on anything on line to do with Kubota.
One of the country dealerships Tundarri sales and service ended up calling Kubota to get information for me as the model number does appear on the system but very little else, and as a result gave me the specs for oil and they can get parts for me if need be and he even tried to get me a users manual but to no avail.
So full credit to him, as for it's year I still have no idea.
