Another Welding table
Well after about 8 years I thought it was about time to do some of the things I had planned to do when I first build the table.

First step, holes, and lots of them.
Over the years had drilled and tappet a few holes to hold things down but there was no way I was going to do a 120+ holes through 1” plate freehand.
So one of the heads from my body roller, some RHS offcuts, linearthruster, mount plate a drill and we have some holes.

After drilling a dozen holes thoughts turned to tapping the holes.
I did not want to mount the tapping head to the ally thruster for fear of bending it so I pinched an idea from the net and built a parallel arm. I then mounted a hydraulic motor to that, machined an adaptor for the tap and now we have some tappet holes.

Adapted the drill head to the parallel arm and drilled some more holes.

As I am a lazy basted and found it too hard to push and pull the lever on the control valve to rotate the tap I set up a pneumatic control valve so I only had to flick a switch.

Had to move the setup around the table a few times and make a couple of other mod`s but eventually it is all done.

Adapted the pneumatic vice I built awhile ago. Very handy when sanding of bits and pieces.

It`s like a kid with a new toy.
There was no need to clamp this job down it`s only some 20x20mm rhs, but hey got to test the holes are working properly.DSC05757 e.jpg

Nice work bench, I've always liked the idea of having a perfectly flat plate with holes everywhere that are perfectly aligned with each other. Makes setup and clamping easy.
Also looking through your photos, I noticed you have a 2 button pneumatic pendant. Could you advice where you got this from, would be a handy thing to have.
Thanks

perfectly flat or perfectly aligned this table is not, but its nice to be able to clamp things down instead putting tack welds everywhere then cleaning them up.
The two button pendants are handy but where to get them without going to someone like Enerpac or Power Team I`m not sure. From memory they were not cheap. Luckily the few I have fell into the back of my ute instead of the scrap bin when the pumps were scraped.
I have mounted small button valves on a piece of shaped ally plate that worked well.

Yeah didn't think they would be cheap. What are those button valves from, might have to make something up.

The button valves are an off the shelf item. Any pneumatic supply company should have them.
This one is a Mindman TAC MVHA-3P.
