Default POL versus CGA510 and Acetylene regulator inlet

    Hi all, new round here.

I'm in Australia, in case that has any relevance to my question.

According to many websites, an Acetylene regulator may be used with Propane (LPG) and there are many examples where they have been used to set up an Oxy Propane brazing system using a 'BBQ Gas Cylinder'. But these examples I have seen are mostly from the USA.

Now the Acetylene regulator uses a CGA510 fitting.

Here's one which says CGA510 and POL are the same.

But the Acetylene regulator I have does NOT fit the POL output on my LPG (Propane) tank. It is VERY close and also a LH thread - am I missing something?

Could it be that the Australian version of POL is slightly different, perhaps CGA520 and therefore I would need one of these:

    Cheers

Playing with the wrong equipment and explosive gases is not good for the mortality of one's life. The regs are not interchangeable for a reason, one of those is if cutting the Acetylene reg won't flow enough gas.

Agree. Still I'm curious to know if they are same in the USA.

LPG will destroy your acetylene regulator you need a regulator specifically designed for LPG
