    Default Welder cover

    G'day all,
I've been on the hunt for a protective cover for my welder for when it's sitting around and not being used. In my extensive searching, I've found that ones designed for welders are very expensive, especially if you want to add the brand name on the outside of it . Anyhoo, I found that an boat outboard engine cover fits it like a glove and for a fraction of the price of a dedicated welder cover.
I thought that this might be a useful tidbit of info, but if you already knew, my apologies for making you read this .
    All the best,
    Steve

Thanks its good of you to post this.

I don't want to sound picky ,but!

It would be even handier would be to state what outboard brand model cover this is, and the particular welder is that the cover fits fits.

Maybe the H x W x D dimensions of your welder as welder.

In this way potentially more people might be able to use this info.

    Thanks again

    All good Grahame,
The cover is a generic one from ebay to suit an outboard of 15-30hp and the dimensions are 560 x 300 x 400 (LxWxH). The welder I have is a Weldmatic 200i and it's dimensions are 500 x 220 x 410.
If you search for 'outboard cover' on ebay, you'll come up with heaps of different options. I decided on a canvas cover rather than polyester, and it was only around $25 delivered.
    All the best,
    Steve.

That's a great idea, I use a pillow slip on mine a royal PITA as it's a rather tight fit.

Great Idea - I just ordered one.
Despite the fume hood/extractor at the MW end of my shed it gets covered in dust and am a bit over blowing the dust off and around my welder especially every time I need to do a small job.

Hooded bbq covers are also another option if you have a large trolley with bottles/multiple welding machines etc.

I looked at BBQ covers early on in the search phase, but they were all way too high (top to bottom) and there would have been excess material hanging on the floor. With the outboard cover on, I've still got full access to the trolley underneath too.

I reckon canvas is the way to go as it breathes.

Not keen on covering anything with a product that might sweat underneath.
