Nice selection Grahame. I use F clamps almost exclusively for welding except when I really need some strength. Sometimes Irwin trigger clamps can be handy to lock something in position when you have your hands full, then swap it for another clamp.

My take is gap them just wide enough to allow the clamp stem/thread just enough to rotate 360° or make the clamp under bar thingo a rectangle shape to allow you to insert extra clamps after the project parts have been cramped down.
Using PFC leaves you very little clamping area on the flange edge but it would be plenty strong....................................................................

I used "welding bench clamp" as the Google search term.
Once google ran up the list, I went to the top of the page and clicked images.
