    Default Token tools welder

I am about to put in an order for one of these.......
    https://weldingstore.tokentools.com....-elite-digital

I am also going to get the foot pedal and flow meter as optional accessories..

Any thing else I should consider and why?

eg. Would I really I need the longer plasma torch length?, push button on torch, flex head

Considering I am not a pro welder and do not expect to make money from this machine is the 256 (next size up) worth the extra money?.

and what about torch head consumables or any other machine consumables (not welding consumables) for welder I might need.

Length ; do you mean cable/hose length? If so, depends what/where you are welding.
I weld everything at a small bench so I haven't come close to needing a longer cable

Flex head; also depends what/where you are welding.
There have been a few occasions where a smaller, more flexible, torch would have been useful. I will probably get one of these sometime

"Push button" , all torches have a push button , I think you mean "current dial"
I haven't felt the need for one.

Have used the pedal once in 18 months, might use is more now that I have the basic hang of the machine.

Considering I am not a pro welder and do not expect to make money from this machine is the 256 (next size up) worth the extra money?.
Again it depends what you are welding. I mainly do small stuff so haven't been over 105A on the TIG and 130A on the stick. I mostly work around 60 - 80 range on small stuff.

and what about torch head consumables or any other machine consumables (not welding consumables) for welder I might need.
Depends on usage. Having a few of the ceramic parts of the TIG and plasma torches are handy if you drop your torch!
Plasma electrodes and torch tip are handy to have on hand if they get really dirty is easier to swap out mid job and proceed instead of stopping to clean them.

Question for the experts, Whats an easy way to clean torch parts?

As an L-plate TIG welder, I'm finding I prefer to use the fixed amps for steel and the pedal for aluminium - the latter seems to be far more dynamic and critical in terms of how heat builds in the material. As for how many amps, if you're doing steel, like Bob, I barely go over 100A. Anything that needs more than that it probably suited to stick or MIG anyway.

Aluminium is a different kettle of fish - I just did my first proper fabrication task on aluminium, and certain welds where there was a lot of material around the joint had me maxxed out at 200A. If I go any thicker, I'll probably start having to do increasing amounts of joint prep (bevels etc.).

Whilst I already had a pile of thoriated tungstens I bought at a sale many moons ago, I put in an order for some of the lanthanated tungstens the other day after doing a bit of reading online and a strong consensus that lanthanated are the preferred choice by many as a solid all-round tungsten.
I got the flex head on my torch, I can see how it would be handy for tricky situations, so in my opinion the relatively minor cost is worth it.

The long torch leads would be handy if you're working on a large project, otherwise they'd likely be a nuisance.

Get some filler rods as well, I mildly kicked myself that I didn't order any with my machine, but I have no issue with ordering more things from TT, Pete has definitely won my loyalty

Fixed amps DC is good for steel, but Id rather have the pedal for control you cant camp out with fixed unless you are using up and down slope ramps set to a couple seconds on a 2T trigger.

Dont be scared to crank up the amps on thicker stuff much easier than welding thin, will need to run 2.4mm+ electrode.
Welding up 6mm+ material I set my machine to 180amps and fit a 3.2mm electrode and blaze away, 6mm melts like butter get ready to jam in the filler rod though!
So far in my tig welding adventures I've found that 1.6mm and 3.2mm lath electrodes cover my every need, I researched a fair bit looking for the "perfect torch" and the WP20 ticks many boxes providing you have a watercooler to run it.
My machine come with a terrible wp18(same size as a 17)with the euro handle and anaconda sized hoses(theres 3 hoses in a thick rubber sheath)and fixed position trigger button, I ended up putting a straight handle on it with a micro switch that you can move around which made it easier to use... but still had them hoses that played havoc with my elbow so I lashed out on a CK20 torch with 25' of superflex hoses and leather cover, cost as much as a mid cheap tig machine but my elbows are thanking me!
