    Default Hardfacing question

Hi, I have a loader bucket that has been hard faced before using a waffle pattern, but I don't know what sort of welding wire was used. It needs doing again & I would like to ask if it is ok to weld directly over the old hard facing or should I lay the new weld next to the old?

I am going to use Kiswel K-700HT wire.

    Regards WC57

When you hardface the first run dilutes itself with the base material so is never as hard as the next run on top.

I would grind the existing hardface to remove any imbedded dirt/rock then run over the top. If you put some thought into it you might not have to hardface too much. I have seen some people go a bit over the top.

Thanks RC, the outer edges are still fine so I will do as you suggest & repair what is needed.
