    Default Gasless wire differences.

All being equal i.e. application wise, does anyone have any practical experience with these two gasless wires? Performance, quality, strength etc.

    Shieldcor 15 - 0.8 / 0.9 / 1.2 mm - Cigweld - Victor Technologies Asia Pacific - South Pacific

    WeldSkill Gasless Wire - 0.8 / 0.9 / 1.2 mm - Cigweld - Victor Technologies Asia Pacific - South Pacific

I tried to contact the manufacturer directly but unfortunately just got a generic answer and also had a go at calling through but was waiting in a queue for ages.

The price of the Sheildcor-15 is typically double from what I’ve seen – is it twice as good?

From the data sheets for both products, the Sheildcor has a little bit more Al in the mix, and has a slightly higher ultimate tensile strength. They both meet the same standards so I would suggest that for most people they could be taken as identical.

I think it was shield cor 15 that I was using today (I'll try to remember to check tomorrow), and I was less than impressed. Huge amounts of spatter!

I can't comment on the weldskill, as I haven't used it.

As for gasless wire in general, I've used cigweld, Hobart, and LiquidArc, and the LiquidArc is by far the best of the three and the Hobart, while not nearly as nice to use as the LiquidArc, is still a lot nicer than the cigweld.

    Cheers,... Jon.

Thanks for the replies. I'll also look into Hobart, and LiquidArc.

LiquidArc can be a bit harder to find than Hobart, and a little dearer, but it's worth the extra 10% in my opinion.

I just put a roll in my cigweld 250 amp MIG, and it actually whistles rather than pops and crackles like most gasless wires. Sounds more like it's gone into spray transfer even at relativity low current.
