Old cig cigweld transtig 300 pulse ac/dc manuals.
Hi guys I'm a newby to this forum but have been reading it for quite some time. I was hoping someone here may be able to help me with my old CIG TRANSTIG 300 PULSE PART NO.700215. It has burnt out a 1/4W Resistor in the main PCB(ZUEP06189) which could normally be an easy fix but it is burnt so bad I cannot identify what number resistor to replace it with. I have no manuals or electrical drawings for this machine and was wondering if someone may be able to help me. I have emailed CIGWELD twice and not one reply from them. It suprises me there seems to be very little information around on these machines as most TAFE, Government & Defence sites had them, they were certainly a step ahead of the later 275 Transtig, but all seemed to have this same normally easily fixed problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Can't help with a manual, but I'd suggest ringing the cigweld customer service number. I've gotten a couple of manuals for older machines that way.
When you do finally fix the board, consider putting a higher wattage resistor in and you may permanently fix the problem.

Thanks Karl, that's how we fixed my first one of these welders years ago with the same problem, just went higher in the 1/4w resistor, so naturally I thought this would be a quick fix. I will call CIG tomorrow, but I sent them the now 4 emails to actually make it easier for them to get information back to me.
Thanks Again for your help Karl.

Hi Karl, Just letting you know I rang CIGWELD Technical Services this afternoon, so after a chat with Dave their tech guy he has just emailed me a Operators manual & Service manual for the machine, even if it does not tell us the actual resistor size, the PCB repairer should be able to sort of reverse it and work it out by what and how it powers.

Glad it worked out for you.
I wonder if your transtig 300 pulse is actually a National Panasonic in disguise? Cig used to have an arrangement with National and I have yet to see the equal of the National machines (with the exception of OTC, who equal their machines).
I have a National 180A mig that I will not part with and a Cig Transpulse 350 mig (National painted Cig grey) that they will need to pry from my cold dead hands also.

I have a bit of a soft spot for all these old CIG Machines & your Transpulse 350 are an awesome machine, I have been keeping an eye out for one for quite some time.

Karl I just checked out the National 300 Tigs and by the looks of it you may be right, these ponies may have different names but they look like their from the same stables.

Well I got my PCB back from Circuits Unlimited QLD today, fitted it back into my tig and presto it works great, they found more problems with it than just the one burnt resistor, but wow what a different machine. Glad I repaired it as now I can get back to work on my blower manifold and a few other jobs that have started piling up in the shed.
