Yeah, I've seen these at field days for years, and have used them on the odd occasion with reasonable results. However, for the ones I have, you need to have a dedicated stainless steel brush for cleaning the joint before you braze. The ones linked to above don't seem to require this, and claim to be flux-cored, so perhaps they're different?

As said above similar rods have been around for years, I have used them on various jobs secret is extreme clealiness and don't overheat, can't see why you would destroy the hose by cutting the tails off you only need to split the crimps

I have these. They work great. Have welded up a few Ali things and I am not a welder by any stretch of the imagination.

    Well howdy there, Mick.

First up, are your brazing rods any different from the ones we see at field days with the guy welding up soft-drink cans? I ask this because that system puts a great deal of emphasis on using a clean, dedicated stainless-steel brush to prep the joint, where with your system, not so much.

    Hi RustyArc,

Our rods are not the same as you see at the shows. Our rods are specially designed for brazing Automotive A/C components. They are a flux core rod and about 1.5mm thick. We don't have to clean parts with a SS wire brush. we do recommend all components are free of any oils.

    Hi China,

The reason you should cut the tail off and braze a new tail on is because when you crimp a ferrule onto a tail, you get tail collapse. This means the tail is crushed in the middle and may not form a correct seal. This happens more on aluminium tails.
