Question Are esab ac/dc tig welders any good

    HI,
I am looking at possibly Buying a Secondhand Esab AC/DC 200amp Tig Welder. It doesn't look like an Inverter Welder. I have never heard much about Esab Welders, so I am just wondering whether or not Esab Welders are any Good.
    Thanks in Advance.

    They are a good machine
However spare parts for older machines are very hard to find
and very expensive if you can get them
I would say avoid it unless its very cheep

The first port of call is the guys that do welder repair in your vicinity.I would ask this question for you but inconveniently my tame electrician is on long service. Esab is awell respected brand and if its an older model I don't see it as rocket science to repair them. Check the info plate on the machine for model no to do a search on it/and quote it to the repairers. They should put you right.

Late to the party - had one of those for about 20 years, Qantas also bought a shedload of them....and tafe.

Only two issues over that period, finally lost HF, which made repair uneconomic. A mate's similar, but slightly updated model also developed the same fault, a couple of years back, which may be entirely coincidental. They are heavy compared to things you tuck under your arm today.

    HI,
It sounds like the High Frequency might be a bit of an Issue with the Esabs, I am glad I did not Buy it. I was only going to Buy it as a AC/Dc Tig Welder to use at Work and leave My Tokentools Alupulse at Home.

    HI,
Yes We have a EMF Pilot Arc Welder (Pie Warmer) at Work for Stick Welding and AC Tig. Although I can use it (certainly not as Good as my Boss can) I find it a lot easier to use My own Welder. I haven't done a lot of Tig of Aluminium so I am still learning.
