    Default safe and weldy

Have a good year, weld stuff and be safe. Don't be scared of it, it's only steel, and if you're nice to it, it does what it's told, and for fu#? sake, don't swear at your gear, it's probably the way you're using it. don't take short cuts and don't stress when you stuff up ( I'll bet even Mr Collins makes a few now and then )
and please, when you go to buy rods at bunnings make sure you stick an extra pack up your sleeve or down your sock, they're ripping you sideways.
remember, safe and weldy guys.....roger and out.

depends where you are I guess. it's not like there is a ' welders r us ' shop on every corner of every town (wouldn't that be great). keep an ear out for auctions and drop into all the little second hand shops around the place, you'd be suprised at the s#it that's out there. get your rods from BOC or other big suppliers, get a 5 kg box at a time, don't bother with the plastic bag with 10 in it at the hardware shop. happy welding.

    The short answer: not Bunnings.

For general purpose rods, Kobelco RB26 are the go, but you need to find a specialist welding supplier. Otherwise, if you have a Gasweld franchise nearby, their Lincoln rods are usually damn cheap and seem to do the business. Apart from that, Cigweld do Ferrocraft and Satincraft rods which are widely available, but they're a lot more expensive and not necessarily better than the rods mentioned.

I mainly use WIA electrodes but i have used boc brand rods and they are a very good rod also. There are usually engineering shops in most towns that sell rods. Them lincoln rods gasweld sell are alright as well.
