Welcome to the Hercus club, you could try with Bitza500.

He is currently compiling a register of Hercus owners, you might like to be on the list.

Hi Ken,

Thank you I will check out your suggestion.

The register sounds interesting?

Cheers, Kevin.

I'd recommend you consider buying a new chuck, the imported ones aren't that expensive. You can get a threaded backplate for the chuck from the states

http://www.tools4cheap.net/products.php?cat=15

or

http://www.cdcotools.com/

You can also get a casting that you will have to cut your own thread in from local suppliers.

The correct size 4 jaw chuck is 6". Most of the 6" chucks that seem to be on sale these days are rather heavy duty. If you look around a bit you may be able to find a thinner lighter 6" chuck which would probably be the more appropriate size.

I don't know where is a good place to buy chucks these days but no doubt someone else will.

Hi
I'm very new to this (first thread) and maybe you've already found a 4 jaw chuck but I've been searching for Hercus stuff lately and seen a couple of them for sale

There is a 4 jaw 6 inch chuck to directly screw a Hercus (Doesn't say if it's for a 9 inch or for a 260 - they are different!) on "Trade me" the New Zealand auction site
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Business-farming-industry/Industrial/Manufacturing-metalwork/Lathes-accessories/auction-220768505.htm

Also on Monday I was over at Mick Moyles at Summer Hill and he had one to directly screw on a hercus 9 inch in his cabinet, but I didn't pay any attention to how much he's asking for it :C
